The short version: install the CLI, connect Meta in the browser, and post. MCP is useful for agents, but it is not required for direct terminal use.
Do I need to create a separate sfeed account?
No. Install the CLI, run sfeed auth facebook, approve the Meta browser flow, and start posting. You do not create a separate sfeed account for the free path, and sfeed does not ask for an email signup, Google login, or other social-provider login.
What can I use for free?
These parts are free:
- Connecting Facebook Pages and linked Instagram accounts
- Immediate posting from the CLI
- MCP usage for AI agents
- Status, doctor, page inspection, and schedule inspection commands
Do I need MCP to use sfeed?
No. You can use sfeed directly from the terminal after sfeed auth facebook.

Can my AI agent run sfeed without MCP?
Yes, if the agent has shell access. Codex, Claude Code, and OpenCode can run terminal commands when their permissions allow it. MCP usually gives a cleaner agent workflow because the tool names, inputs, and outputs are explicit.
When do I pay for sfeed?
You pay only for hosted scheduling. That is the mode where sfeed stores the job and publishes it later even when your machine is off.
sfeed billing subscribe Can I use only Instagram?
Yes, but Meta still requires a professional Instagram account linked to a Facebook Page. The setup command is still sfeed auth facebook.

Do my posts need to live in a hosted dashboard?
No. You can keep posts, media, prompts, and rules on your own machine. sfeed handles auth, uploads, posting, previews, and hosted scheduling.
